Description
7% gueuze lambic
Boon Sörfőzde (1978), Halle, Brabant
Old Geuze Boon is a classic among Belgian beers and a denomination protected by European regulations. Spontaneous fermentation and maturation for 2 years in oak casks gives this beer its highly unique flavour, which has characterised it for over 200 years. A sour mellowness and dry oak touches are typical of this Old Geuze Boon. It’s a magnificent blend of 90% mild 18 month-old lambic, 5% strong 3 year-old beer and 5% very young lambic, which provides fermentable sugars and wild yeasts. It is light-yellow amber in appearance, crowned with a nice head. It has a very fresh nose, more spicy than fruity, with touches of citrus, pepper, vanilla and oak. The aftertaste is long, dry and intense.
