The story of our restaurant dates back more than 26 years, when two good friends, János Tamáska and Zoltán Nánási, who is still the owner of our restaurant, fell in love with Belgian beers during their multiple stays in Belgium and wanted to bring this unique beer drinking experience to Hungary. After importing a few bottles of Belgian beer, the idea of opening the only Belgian beer bar in Hungary was born.
The Belgian Brasserie Henri opened its doors to the public on September 25, 1996, and has been a popular spot ever since. It was named after a friend they met in Belgium, Henri Fort, who took our founders to several beer distilleries and smaller craft breweries to gather inspiration and help with importing beer. Our restaurant started with 8 types of beer, and now hundreds of beers pass through our palette.
The interior of our bar was designed by Mark Bormans, a Belgian designer who modeled it after a real Belgian pub. Our bar’s interior design is truly authentic with the use of real bricks imported from Belgium that radiate our love for beer in every detail.
The secret of our bar’s captivating atmosphere, in addition to the excellent food and unique beers, lies in our positive, cohesive, and enthusiastic team. Come visit us anytime and enjoy the excellent mood and friendly atmosphere. Our motto is “The guest comes first, and we strive to fulfill every special request.” We are extremely proud to welcome our guests to a traditional place where we can offer brews made using recipes that are up to 500-600 years old.
